The Society
The Hyderabad Mathur Kayasthas are a well known community having rich cultural legacy and progressive systems. They believed in the power of pen than sword. Hence they have been working with government and private organisations on high positions. They were administrators, financial advisers, educators, doctors, engineers, I T and other professions.
Some eminent persons of the community started the Hyderabad Mathur Kayasth Education and Welfare Society in the year 1970 with a view to cater to the educational and welfare needs of its members. This Society is non profitable and non political.
The endeavours of the Society have been to promote educational, cultural, social, economic and spiritual attainment to uplift Kayastha Mathur community and create a common platform to achieve its aims and objectives. Literary, cultural, sports and games activities are conducive to the development of healthy individuals.
Debates, Elocution, Essay Writing, Quiz competitions are organised regularly. Guest lectures, Memorial lectures, seminars, symposia, conferences and workshops are held.
Innovative cultural programs like dance,singing,anthakshari competitions are conducted. Besides, Dandiya and cultural events associated with festivals are celebrated. Sports and games for all age groups are conducted. The highlight of the events is the Festival cricket match.
The Society has always emphasised and encouraged Education. With the support of donors, the Society gives awards, medals, prizes and scholarships to the meritorious students from levels KG to PG. Financial assistance and books are also given to promising needy students. The Guidance Bureau and Counselling Centre provides Academic and professional guidance by experts.
The Society is proud of their women members who are highly educated and holding top positions in various fields. Special emphasis is given to Women’s Empowerment. Platforms are created for women to bring out their creativity and talents through Stree melas, exhibition cum sales, also, lectures,demonstrations and workshops on different women’s issues. Aid is provided to needy widows with the help of philanthropist Biradri members. Some of them are given support for medicines.
A quarterly Newsletter ” Profile ” is published and released communicating information about events and activities of the biradri members.
All this was possible because of the dedicated and sincere efforts of the earlier Presidents and the members of the Managing Committees with active participation of the Biradri members.
The HMK E&W Society has completed 50 years and is in its Golden Jubilee Year with Dr. Dinesh Raj Mathur as its President and his dynamic Managing Committee who will continue the glorious legacy.
